Day 12: Tooele

This picture was posted to facebook on March 11, 2012.  It was taken not long before that.  My friends and I enjoy going shooting.  Right here I am holding Grant's mom's pistol.  It is a semi-automatic Ruger .22 pistol.  I like to shoot it.  As the detail oriented person may notice I have the magazine in my hand and the gun is unloaded.  The magazine holds 10 so you can shoot kind of fast, but not go through too much ammo too quickly.

We also shoot shotguns.  This is also Grant's mom's shotgun.  She has good tastes in firearms.  I really like to shoot her guns.  It is a pump action Remington A870.  We have lots of fun with it.

Day 11: Boise

This picture was taken on December 17, 2011 in Boise, Idaho.  Utah State was playing Ohio in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and it wasn't too far away in Boise so I contemplated going.  But I didn't have a ticket or a way there.  Then three days before the game my brother's friend offered him a ticket but he couldn't go, so he offered me the tickets  So two days before the game I ask my friend Grant if he wants to go on a road trip to Boise on that Saturday.  He said, "Sure.  What are we going to do?"  "We are going to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and also see a friend of mine."  "Alright."  So we made our way to Boise for the football game Saturday morning.  It was a typical Utah State finish.  We were winning for much of the game but couldn't get it together at the end of the game.  We actually lost in the last 23 seconds but I could see it coming near the beginning of the 4th quarter.  So the game wasn't all that good and plus I was cold.  Boise is cold in December when you are outside for hours.

I did wear my super awesome Russian hat.   My head didn't get cold it was mostly my hands and arms.  After the game we went to Carl's Jr. right down the road.  It was pretty good. Then we found Sarah and her friends and had a good time.

Day 10: Yekaterinburg

This picture was taken on November 22, 2010.  I was serving in Yekaterinburg and on one of the p-days my zone decided that even though there was snow on the ground and it was probably like -20 Celsius we still wanted to play frisbee.  It was too bad the zone leaders skipped out this week.  I really enjoyed our game and it didn't really feel like it was freezing cold because we were moving around a lot.  The part that may or may not have been the most fun was at the end when we played elders verse sisters.  It was an intense competition but he elders won in the end!

As you can tell here we did play with gloves.  Though I do remember that after a while I did take off my right gloves because it was harder to play frisbee with that glove on.  Then because my hand didn't absolutely freeze without having that glove on I left it off.

Day 9: Camp Frontier

These pictures were taken August 6, 2011.  I worked up at a scout camp that year and for the whole summer I saw this large hill/mountain to the east of camp that kept calling to me to be climb it.  So at the end of the summer I went and climbed the mountain. This is what I found at the top.  The reason why there is no bark and all the trees look dead is because 9 years ago there was a fire on this hill and it burned a lot.  It takes a long time for a forest to regrow after a fire.  In other places in the camp the regrown is more visible.  There are all sorts of aspen trees and you can see little pine trees.

I added this picture because it could fit on the right side of the other picture.  Plus I think that this one is really cool with the mountains the distance and the trees in the foreground.  Goodness I love nature and hiking and mountains!

This pictures was take July 13, 2011.  Here you can actually see the forest regrown.  The old, burned trees are still there but underneath you can see all the new aspen trees.  They got pretty thick.

The other pictures were from the top of this hill/mountain.

Day 8:Home

This is one of the projects that I made.  I use 4-1 yard strands to make a tikiman that is about 3 inches tall.  I made up the idea myself.   I did get some help from www.boondoggleman.com  to start my thinking and different stitches but I am pretty proud of my creativity. I still make them now.

Day 7: Home

This picture was taken May 31, 2009.  This was the day that I spoke in church prior to leaving for the MTC (Missionary Training Center) and before I then went onto Russia.  I think that my hair looks ridiculous because I only halfway did it.  But I didn't care too much about my hair then and only care a little bit more now.  My lovely sister Katie is in the picture with me, though I don't know that she will appreciate the picture.  Alls I have to say is it is better than the other one. :)

Day 6: Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch

This picture was taken on May 23, 2012 when I was at National Camping School at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch in Colorado.  You can't really tell in the picture what I am doing but I am trying to show off my bruise.  It was a really long drive to Colorado and so we had to entertain ourselves.  The way we entertained ourselves was by playing the game where you hit somebody else when you see double letters or split letters.  Well it was going good because we were around other cars and could punch each other.  But then we got closer to camp and there were less cars.  So then we used signs and anything else.  The game got kind of cared away.  Matt even punched me because we passed through the city of Elizabeth because he doesn't like that name anymore.  This picture was 5 days after we got there and I had developed a pretty good bruise.  I was pretty proud of it.  Grant also got a little bruise.  Matt didn't get a bruise though.  Then Megan was in the picture because I was showing her my bruise.

Day 5: West Jordan

This picture was taken June 1, 2009.  We went to the open house for the LDS Oquirrah Mountain Temple in West Jordan.  http://mormontemples.org/eng/about-temples  The temple was beautiful.  I loved having my sister and her daughter fly in from Ohio.  Its funny that I was wearing that shirt and those pants because at the recent Brigham City Temple open house I was wearing the same shirt and pants, but a different tie.

Day 4: Home

This picture was taken June 5, 2008 at 1:43 pm.  This was an important day.  I was graduating from high school and Liz and Tristan were graduating from Utah State University.  If anybody knows Tristan than they would know that this is one of his 'normal' faces and aren't surprised.

Day 3: Kurgan

This picture was taken at a branch activity in Kurgan, Russia on April 10, 2010.  We had a small activity where we hand made пельмени.  We first got тесто (dough) and rolled it flat.  Then added some flour to make it not so sticky.  Then we cut the тесто into circles.  Then we put a little ball of фарш (ground meat) on the circle and enclosed the the фарш in the тесто.  Then, because it was April and it was still cold outside, we put the finished ones outside to chill.  Once they had chilled somewhat we then dumped them in a pot of boiling water, similar to how you would eat spaghetti.  Let them boil until they rise to the top and then they are finished.  Get the пельмени out of the water and onto your plate.  Add some кетчуп (ketchup), which is what I am doing in the picture, and enjoy!

Day 2: Camp Frontier

I worked up at a boy scout camp called Camp Frontier in the Uinta Mountains.  We have a lake nearby and have water games on Friday afternoon.  This particular picture was taken August 3, 2007 during Bonesaw.  You may be able to see that there are 3 canoes lashed together.  Well the staff get on that boat and then go around and swamp all the scouts in their individual canoes.  It is really fun to see.  The scouts don't stand a chance.

Day 1: Yekaterinburg

This picture was taken in Yekaterinburg, Russia on November 20th, 2010.  Most of the missionaries in Ekat went down to Botanika for a baptism and this was one of the advertisements that I saw down there.  I hope you can tell it is an advertisement for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
