Day 52: Moscow

A very popular or well known point of interest in Moscow is Red Square.  Well in Russian, Red Square is Красная Площадь.

On the North side of Red Square (on the right of the picture) is St Basil's Cathedral.  Unfortunately the sun wasn't out and so colors are kind of dull.  But when I went back that night it was fantastic!  Then on the left of this picture is the Kremlin.

Here we also have the Kremlin.  Kremlin really means stronghold.  So there are a number of Kremlins all over Russia but here is the famous one that is blown up in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.  The Kremlin is on the East side of Red Square.

Then to the south is the Historical Museum.  It contain a lot of important historical relics including coronation clothes for Czars and Csarinas and also carriages.

Then finally on the West Side was the ГУМ (GUM).  It is a big mall complex.

Day 51: Yaquina Head

On the coast of Oregon in the city of Newport there is a lighthouse at Yaquina Head.  Oregon's tallest lighthouse, at 93 feet, is situated on a little strip of landing jutting out into the Pacific Ocean.  When we went it was rather windy and I was cold.

There was a nice lighthouse and then on a little island just off the coast there were a ton of seabirds.

The lighthouse built in 1872

There were some really cool rocks.  They were really smooth.  There was also a really cool tide pool which, depending on the how high the tide was, different sea animals would be beached.  We went at a time when the tide was receding and so there were plenty of creatures that were exposed.  It was cool to see.

Day 50: Portland Rose Gardens

In downtown Portland there is a park.  Part of this park is called the Royal Rosarian Garden.  May is a beautiful month.

There were roses of every color and every kind.  There were some hybrids so some of these flowers didn't even exist last year.  That is pretty cool to think about.

Day 49: Multnomah Falls

On our way to Portlant, OR we stopped by Multnomah Falls.  They were really cool.  As you can see the upper falls are much taller than the lower falls.  There was this cool looking cabin/ visitor center at the base of the falls.

My sister told me that I had to have a picture where I was actually
in the picture to show that I was actually here.

On the path up to the top of the falls there was a nice overlook so I took a picture.  Western Oregon is beautiful and green.  It helps that the Columbia River is right there and that keeps everything nice and watered.

Day 48: Moscow

What is a Ferrari doing behind glass on the street of Moscow?  I have no idea.  But they had a bunch of exhibits from Italy and Ferrari is a pretty important thing that comes from Italy right?  I thought so also.

Day 47: Pendleton

Continuing on our trip to the Oregon Coast we actually stayed the night in Pendleton, Oregon.  It isn't a very big town but it did have these trains off to the side of the tracks. So we decided to take some pictures. Union Pacific!

Day 46: Boise

I have been to Boise, Idaho a couple times.  This time I visited the Boise LDS Temple.  Again I didn't go inside but just was there long enough to walk around the temple grounds and then continue on my trip.

Day 45: Twin Falls

The closest freeway to Twin Falls, Idaho is I-15.  But in order to get from the freeway to Twin Falls you have to across this big bridge.  It looks really big and it actually is really big.  Evel Knievel jumped across the gorge back in the 70s.  People also go base jumping from the top of the bridge.  That would be pretty cool.

This is the same gorge looking west.

There is also an LDS Temple in Twin Falls. We didn't go inside but just walked around the temple grounds.
