Day 53: Portland

To enter Portland there are a couple ways that you can do that.  To the left you can see that we entered on the freeway from the east.  In order to get to downtown Portland and Portland State University you need to cross that big bridge.  To the right is the bridge you take when entering Portland from the north.  The Columbia River is the border between Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA.

Though there were a lot of cars there were also a lot bicycles.  So Portland is known for being the bicycle capital of America.  It should all be known for all the pets that people have in Portland.  There are a lot of pets.

Another place we went was the Portland Temple.  On the left is the temple itself with the spires and Angel Moroni on the tallest spire.  Then we were also pleasantly surprised that there was a visitors' center that we were able to inside.  It was a small visitors' center but it was very nice.  There were a couple sets of missionaries there.

We were in Portland on Saturday and over the summer Portland has a Saturday Market.  It was a lot of fun.  It reminded me a lot of the рынки that were all over Russia and also the Baltic States.
Something that was really nice was that on the streets of Portland there were these drinking fountains as we were walking down the Pearl District of Portland.  It was pretty sweet!

Day 46: Boise

I have been to Boise, Idaho a couple times.  This time I visited the Boise LDS Temple.  Again I didn't go inside but just was there long enough to walk around the temple grounds and then continue on my trip.

Day 45: Twin Falls

The closest freeway to Twin Falls, Idaho is I-15.  But in order to get from the freeway to Twin Falls you have to across this big bridge.  It looks really big and it actually is really big.  Evel Knievel jumped across the gorge back in the 70s.  People also go base jumping from the top of the bridge.  That would be pretty cool.

This is the same gorge looking west.

There is also an LDS Temple in Twin Falls. We didn't go inside but just walked around the temple grounds.

Day 31: Stockholm

These pictures were taken November 2012 of the Stockholm Sweden Temple.  For more information about temples click here.  I was a little bit disappointed that it was dark when we actually got there.  But you do what you can do.  Being in the right place at the right time is hard when you are just visiting for a couple hours.  But I was at least grateful to be there and get my picture taken.

The writing says, "Temple, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints."

Day 5: West Jordan

This picture was taken June 1, 2009.  We went to the open house for the LDS Oquirrah Mountain Temple in West Jordan.  http://mormontemples.org/eng/about-temples  The temple was beautiful.  I loved having my sister and her daughter fly in from Ohio.  Its funny that I was wearing that shirt and those pants because at the recent Brigham City Temple open house I was wearing the same shirt and pants, but a different tie.
