Day 33: Tallinn

This picture was also taken November 2012.  While on a tour of Old Town Tallinn we saw this Russian Orthodox cathedral.  These kind of cathedrals are all over Russia.  Our tour guide, who was hands-down the most sarcastic person that I have ever met, told us about the top the cathedral.  You see that there is the 3 part cross?  That is normal.  It is on every cathedral.  But what is rare is the half moon that the cross is going through.  As Helly (tour guide) said to show those Muslim dogs that Russian Orthodox is superior because we are such douches.  That is not a direct quote (hence the lack of quotation marks) but it was pretty harsh.

Day 26: Moscow

This picture was taken on October 5, 2012 in Moscow.  We were there for the weekend and of course we went to go see St. Basil's Cathedral.  I am not going to lie the first time I saw it I wasn't as impressed.  But then we went back at night and I was overwhelmed.  I was thinking now this is more like it.

Day 21: Saint Petersburg

This picture was taken on September 8th, 2012.  So since I am in Saint Petersburg I thought that I would add a cool picture from the pictures that I have taken.  Here we have спас на крови (Church on Spilt Blood).  It is such a cool looking cathedral.  Its design is new old-style Russian church because it is only about a hundred years old but looks like it should be 200 or 300 years old.  Similar to St Basil's cathedral in Moscow.

The church is actually on a canal and Sveta (the tour guide) talked about why that was significant.  Tsar Alexander II was assassinated here and his son build the church in memorial of his father
